Color, Gathered Together

Beneath the trees at Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club, flowers brought a shared palette of blue, purple, pink, and pale yellow to the waterfront ceremony. A flower-covered wooden chuppah overlooked the water, while broad arrangements in front of the last row of chairs gave the composition a presence across the lawn. Together, they introduced the colors and flowers that ran through the wedding.

Throughout the centerpieces and bouquets, we worked with three distinct floral designs, each giving particular flowers or colors a more prominent role. The card table brought that approach into focus: clematis spread outward in one vase, delphinium rose above the grouping in another, and pink dahlias gathered with softer flowers in a third. Each arrangement kept its own character, with the three placed close enough to be seen together.

For the ceremony, those separate groupings became interwoven. Blue delphinium gave height to the chuppah flowers, purple clematis moved through the composition, and dahlias added concentrations of pink and pale yellow. The flowers extended across the wooden beam and gathered at the bases, while greenery trailed along the exposed posts.

The same mixture appeared in the large arrangements in front of the last row of chairs. Seen with the chuppah, they connected the flowers across the seating area, balancing the height of the structure with a broader spread of color nearer the ground.

The work took shape on site, where individual stems were placed into the wooden frame beneath the tree canopy. The finished chuppah brought the wedding’s floral elements together in their fullest expression, with the water remaining open and visible through its center.

From the three vases on the card table to the flowers across the lawn, the design found its continuity through changing combinations. Each setting offered a different way to experience the same flowers.
